the invisible boy

A fun thing happened here. Kaegan got these fun experiments from a cousin for Christmas. (thanks, Donna) And he got them out with every intention of doing every one of them. So, we dropped our homeschool agenda and followed his for a fun day of science activities. One of the experiments involved making a bracelet with color-changing beads. We talked about ultra-violet light and the fact that you can't see it...it is invisible to us. Kaegan decided that this should mean that when he wears the bracelet, he is invisible. So, we spent the day pretending that we couldn't see Kaegan and then we could and then we couldn't, could, couldn't.... He thought it was a great game! He has a great imagination! I wish that everyone in the world could see that autism isn't simply a disability, but a great, unconventional ability. I wonder what he will do in his lifetime? If I can help him channel his gifts into a productive, fun way of adult life. I'm certainly trying! All any of us can accomplish is our best. He does have my best. And I know he is doing his.
